10 Social Media Strategies for Small Business Owners, Experts and Direct Sales

So it’s time you join the large expanse of social media, but in a different way. Welcome to the new world of business. No longer will you be focusing on what type of medium to utilize but mainly how to use the one that everyone, all of your potential customers, already use. You’ve maybe had your chance at social media through your own personal accounts before but as a passionate business owner you’ll truly need the right tips and tools to make your ideas flourish and customers flock towards your products and ultimately your brand.

There are many virtual canvases waiting to be painted upon all around the web but how will you choose the right one? This first step will be important.

People & Platform

Who are we working with? What kind of customers does your brand attract? Are you a t-shirt designer that attracts diehard music fans? Does your audience like seasonal offerings and cozy vibes? Another thought to keep in mind is what platform will be important for you, your product, and your brand? TikTok has seen tremendous growth in helping businesses thrive and their shops become bare with the amount of exposure they’ve seen. It’s as easy as creating a link in your bio and directly selling from your website. Instagram is great for showing off still frames of what your brand has to offer along with built-in shopping that makes it easy for potential customers to buy then and there. Maybe your brand is all about updating customers at a moment's notice on Twitter or providing a certain aesthetic that can really only be materialized on a Pinterest board. Find out what works for you.

Solid Strategies

Now once we understand who we are dealing with, (and for), it’s time to use some tried and true methods to help our brand gain momentum and transform into a force to be reckoned with! Let’s check out some ideas below.

  • Posting Often & Consistently: The main idea is that many social media algorithms are biased in some way or another but they do favor one thing. That one thing is posting often. If those algorithms see that an account is very active and engaged on their site, it’ll reward it by giving it an audience in a recommended section for users to consume.

  • Interaction with users: Once an account has a good number of followers and exposure, it’s always a great idea to ask questions and also answer questions that customers may have. This idea also applies to interacting with other accounts in various ways. These ways could mean commenting on popular accounts’ posts, sharing others' content on your page, collaborations with other accounts in some form.

  • Be bold in trends and what is popular: Find ways to take advantage of current trends and events. Every consumer loves to support someone who has an open eye and mind. Find ways to tie your brand into those same popular events or online trends. One last idea to keep in mind is to have some variety in what you post as long as it is still relevant to your brand, give your followers some slight variation.

For the small and beginning business to the large physical store owner, there's always more to learn when it comes to eCommerce and online business. How will you change your position in the market in the real world but more importantly how can you improve it online?
