3 Ways to Use Reels to Grow Your Business

Are you using short form content in your marketing, yet? This is a top trend for 2022, and it can’t be ignored.

I asked Lauren to share some history of social media and how to use reels now in your business.

Social media has become one of, if not the most popular way to market your business. In 2004, Facebook was established. 6 years later, in 2010, Instagram took the world by storm. Ever since these two platforms were born, the world has not been the same. For better or for worse, we are now attached at the hip to all of our closest (and furthest) friends and family members. In just one click, we can see what our friends are doing in Europe, or our mom’s new kitchen she just designed.

In 2016, TikTok, a video streaming application was created. Since then, TikTok has been downloaded over 3 billion times with over 1 billion active users per month. Because of its enormous success, Facebook and Instagram have created their own video streaming outlets called “reels”. Currently, Instagram has 2 billion active reel users. This number is expected to rise to 2.5 billion by 2023. So this leads to the question, will creating reels help you expand your business? The answer is yes! Here are 3 ways that using reels can help you.

1: Expand your reach

Using reels to expand your community is just the beginning of it. You won’t need fancy lighting or backdrops, all you need is to post about your brand and it will reach tons of people! You don’t have to pay for this marketing, either. As long as you are consistent with your posting and know your target audience, it will reach who you want it to reach. Make sure to utilize hashtags and captions as well. The Instagram, TikTok, or Facebook algorithm will examine the hashtags you are using, analyze them, and then display your video to the appropriate audience. How many times have you been thinking about a restaurant and then it shows up on your For You Page? Too many to count, huh? It may seem scary, but really it is just the algorithm. Your social media platforms know what you like, because you search it, or things similar to it. They cater your entire FYP to your likes.

2: Have fun with your followers

It doesn’t always have to be business, business, business! Make sure that your customers are having fun, and enjoy looking at your page. Showcase some of your employees and what they like to do, show how your business was made, do a fun dance! Customers like to know that their favorite business is employed by fun, hard working, enthusiastic individuals that are cared for by their employer. Engaging your customers is also crucial to gain customer trust and respect. This will associate friendliness and positive views for your brand and therefore, impact your sales! Do a giveaway, ask them about what they want to see next from your company, show them that you care about them as a person, not just their business.

3: Educate your viewers

Teach your audience about your business. How was it started? Who was it founded by? Why did you create this business? The more they know about the business, the more they trust it. The more they trust your business, the more they will buy. Foster a place of care and trust with your customers. Try not to keep secrets from them. Never lie about anything. Give tips on your products. Show them how you would style a certain piece of clothing, or what skincare product to use right after the shower. Show your viewers that you use the product too, and that it works. Giving tips to your customers will increase the product's popularity, and therefore generate more revenue for you!
